On Sunday, January 14, 2001, People Of Substance held its premier Mardi Gras Extravaganza in Chalmette. This enchanting evening
was a "Celebration Honoring New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewes." The toastmaster for this spectacular event was the world renowned
writer, E. Lynn Harris. Darrell K. Sims and Melissa Fields reigned as their Royal Highnesses King and Queen POS. The Tableau
Callout consisted of the Royal Court, which represented the kings and queens of New Orleans' most popular Mardi Gras Krewes.
They were, in order of presentation: Timothy G. Aramburo, who represented the Krewe of Pegasus; Donald Woodruff and Lisa Veal,
who represented the Krewe of NOMTAC; Wayne V. and Shurilynn Willis, who represented the Krewe of Bacchus; Greg Harding and
Leslie McLaughlin, who represented the Krewe of Zulu; and, Tavell Kendall who represented the Krewe of Rex. After the Tableau
Callout, their Royal Highnesses King and Queen POS were entertained with music and dance by local professionals, followed by
general dancing. Everyone present joined in closing the ball with an old New Orleans favorite, the Second Line.
